The water cycle
Did you know that the same amount of water that is on earth is the same water when earth was created. Water is extremely important to our lives and the survival of human beings, plants and animals.
The water cycle is also known as the hydrological cycle. The water cycle includes precipitation, evaporation, condensation and transpiration. Water changes from liquid to vapour and then liquid again and again. When the clouds are heavy it falls down as rain assisted by gravity. When the weather is extremely cold, the rain comes down as solid snow.
Firstly water from lakes, rivers, streams and the sea is heated by the sun and the it will evaporate. When the water evaporates it forms clouds by condensation.
When the water reaches the ground level will flow through the land until it reaches rivers, lakes, streams and the sea. Some water may also sink to the ground
The water cycle begins all over again by evaporation.
Glossary:
Precipitation:the action or process of precipitating a substance from a solution.rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to or condenses on the ground.
Evaporation:Evaporation is a type of vaporization of a liquid that occurs from the surface of a liquid into a gaseous phase that is not saturated with theevaporating substance
Condensation: water which collects as droplets on a cold surface when humid air is in contact. The conversion of a vapour or gas to a liquid.
Transpiration: Transpiration is the process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to the atmosphere
